If you’ve been keeping an eye on electric cars in India, you’ll want to check out what MG Motor has been up to. They’re all set to launch their newest premium electric MPV—the MG M9 —by the end of this month. And let me tell you, it’s quite the stunner!
The M9 is coming to India as a CKD (completely knocked down) import, meaning it’ll be assembled locally. MG is packing it with tons of cool stuff, but what’s really interesting is that it’s bringing five features that are brand-new for MG in India. Oh—and there’s also a frunk! Yep, a front trunk. Let’s dive into what makes the M9 so special.
First up, the M9 is going big—literally. It’s going to be the longest and widest MPV in India, and to match its roomy interior, it comes with not one, but two sunroofs.
You get a regular-sized sunroof above the front seats and a giant panoramic sunroof for the rear passengers. So, whether you’re the driver or chilling in the back, you’ll get plenty of sunlight and fresh air. MG’s other cars like the Hector and Astor have panoramic roofs, but this is the first time MG is giving us a dual sunroof setup. Fancy!
Here’s where things get really luxurious. The M9 is rolling out 16-way power-adjustable Ottoman seats in the second row.
These aren’t your average car seats. They come with ventilation, heating, massage functions, and extendable leg rests. Imagine sinking into these plush seats on a long drive—it’s basically like having your own mini lounge on wheels. Perfect if you’re someone who spends a lot of time being driven around or loves to travel in ultimate comfort.
MG didn’t stop at fancy seats. They’re also introducing Boss Mode in the M9.
This feature lets second-row passengers adjust the front passenger seat electronically using buttons on the side. So, if you’re sitting in the back and want more legroom, just hit a button, and voilà—the front seat slides forward, giving you plenty of space to stretch out. Great for folks who prefer being chauffeur-driven!
One thing about big cars is they can be tricky when it comes to visibility. That’s why the M9 is the first MG in India to come with a digital IRVM (inside rear-view mirror).
Instead of a regular mirror, this uses a camera feed to show you what’s behind the car. So, even if your rear windshield is blocked by passengers, luggage, or giant shopping bags, you’ll still have a clear view. Super handy, especially in crowded city traffic or while parking.

Music lovers, rejoice! The MG M9 is stepping up its audio game with a 13-speaker JBL sound system.
That’s more speakers than any other MG car in India—the Gloster has 12, so the M9 takes the crown. Whether you’re blasting your favorite playlist or chilling with some mellow tunes, this setup promises an immersive sound experience across all three rows. Road trips just got a serious upgrade!
And here’s the cherry on top—the M9 comes with a 55-litre frunk (front trunk).
This is the first time MG is offering a frunk in India. It’s perfect for storing charging cables, small bags, or even your gym gear. Practical and cool!
So, how much will this fancy MPV cost? The MG M9 is expected to start around ₹80 lakh (ex-showroom). While it doesn’t have any direct electric rivals in India right now, it’ll serve as an EV alternative to premium MPVs like the Toyota Vellfire and Kia Carnival.
All in all, the MG M9 sounds like an exciting addition to India’s EV space. With loads of first-time features, a super-premium interior, and MG’s focus on technology and comfort, it’s definitely a car worth watching. I can’t wait to see it on the roads!
