Mahindra is readying a longer five-door derivative of the Thar in a bid to target a larger set of buyers. The 5-door variant is expected to be a hard-top only with the biggest change compared to the current model being the extended wheelbase and the presence of two additional doors. Images of testmules suggest a design that sees little change from the 3-Door Thar. Inside the cabin too is set to remain unchanged with the 5-Door getting a familiar dashboard design with features too expected to be similar. Coming to the engines, the 5-Door Thar is expected to get the same engines as its 3-Door sibling. This means that the SUV will be offered with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine paired with either manual or automatic gearbox options. As with the 3-Door, the 5-Door Thar could also be offered with four-wheel drive.
