Kia India has pulled the wraps off the Kia Carens Clavis EV, its first mass-market electric MPV for the Indian market. Scheduled for launch on July 15, the seven-seater electric vehicle is set to carve a niche for itself, facing direct competition primarily from the BYD eMax 7. This marks a significant milestone for Kia, as the Carens Clavis EV becomes the brand’s first mainstream electric offering in the country.
Visually, the Kia Carens Clavis EV sticks closely to its internal combustion engine (ICE) sibling, carrying forward most of the signature styling elements. However, subtle updates distinguish it as an electric vehicle.
At the front, the Carens Clavis EV sports a fascia inspired by the Kia EV5, characterized by an enclosed grille design for improved aerodynamics. Instead of the traditional grille found on the ICE variant, the EV gets a sleek charging flap integrated into the nose, accompanied by a slim upper air inlet positioned just above the vehicle’s nameplate.
Lower down, the bumper hosts repositioned fog lamps and a revised EV-specific styling treatment that lends a futuristic look. Despite these tweaks, the Carens Clavis EV retains its familiar silhouette, preserving the practicality and road presence of a seven-seater MPV.
